We love playing our quartz crystal alchemy singing bowls. Steeped in history dating all the way back to 1980s Silicon Valley, the sounds they emit are so… hold on a minute! Did we just say 1980s Silicon Valley? Yep, that’s right, the beginnings of the humble crystal singing bowl actually stem from modern day manufacturing when quartz crystal crucibles – or bowls – were used to grow crystal ingots from silicon quartz and combined with sand (silica) to make silicon computer chips! Sometime during the process, it was discovered that these crucibles produced a resonant tone when struck and the rest, as they say, is history.
While crystal alchemy singing bowls are predominantly made of pure quartz crystal, you’ll discover clear and frosted versions, each using slightly differing manufacturing processes. Moulded and shaped to extremely high temperatures, frosted bowls have a smooth yet ironically ‘rough’ exterior to the touch, and clear bowls are created using a pure quartz tube through which hot pressurised air is blown until the desired size is achieved. Crushed gemstones such as rose quartz, amethyst and citrine can be added too, and each bowl creates its own vibrational note depending on its size, thickness and properties.
Pure quartz crystal singing bowls are often used by practitioners to promote better health and wellbeing, and with good reason.
