Why meditate?

Meditating is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. The benefits are endless, and research shows that it helps with the following, which are just a few (of many) examples:

I’m not sure I can meditate, because I can’t switch off my mind

Each of us thinks roughly 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day. When the mind feels busy, it’s because it is!

Meditation doesn’t allow the mind doesn’t suddenly “switch off” altogether. Your usual sounds and thoughts will still come and go. Invite them to be a part of your practice, instead of thinking of them as an annoyance. Allow them to act as a reminder, in order to bring your awareness and focus back to your breath.

When you meditate you train your mind to keep bringing it back to one focus, whether that’s your breath, a mantra or a colour for example.

I don’t have time to meditate

When you feel like you don’t have time to meditate, you probably need it more than ever! It’s one of those things, you don’t have time not to meditate.

By taking even just 5 minutes a day to connect with your breath, and tap into the peace within, you can feel significantly less stressed and less reactive.

Meditation can also help get the creativity flowing and make you feel more focused. It simply creates clarity in the mind.
